Terms of Service

Manna Schoolhouse Fund, LLC

These terms govern your use of myschoolslays.com and the fundraising pages we host (the “Service”). The Service is operated by Manna Schoolhouse Fund, LLC, an Illinois limited liability company (“we,” “us”). By creating an account or making a donation, you agree to these terms.

1. What we do

We run online fundraising pages for schools and school-affiliated nonprofits (each, an “Organization”). The Organization is the charity raising money. We are the service that runs its page and processes donations on its behalf.

We are not the school, we are not affiliated with any school, and we do not receive information from schools.

2. Accounts

You must be 18 or older to create an account. Students do not create accounts.

When you sign up, we ask for your name and email address, and we send you a link to confirm the address. Your account is not active until you confirm it.

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it.

Your account is with us, not with any Organization. It is not tied to a single campaign or school. If your family takes part in another campaign we host, you can use the same account. Ending a campaign does not close your account.

3. Adding a child

You may add a child to a campaign only if you are that child’s parent or legal guardian. You may not add anyone else’s child.

For each child you add, we ask for: first name, last name, grade, and classroom or teacher name. You may also add one photo of your child if you choose. Do not enter a birthdate, a student ID, an address, or any contact information for a child. We do not want that information and we will remove it if we find it.

What happens to what you enter:

  • We create a donation page for your child and give you a private link to it.
  • The page shows your child’s first and last name, grade, and classroom, the total raised for your child, and each donor’s name, amount, and message only as that donor chose to display them.
  • If you add a photo, the page shows it in place of the school’s logo. Add only a photo of your own child that you are happy for anyone with the link to see. We keep a new copy of it without the location or other hidden information the original file carried. You can remove it at any time, and the Organization may remove it at any time.
  • The page is never searchable, browsable, or listed anywhere on our site. Members of the public can reach it only through the link we give you.
  • The Organization’s authorized users can also view the page when signed in.
  • You decide who gets the link. You can share it with family, friends, or anyone else you’d like to invite to donate.
  • Donation links stop working when the campaign ends.

We do not verify that a child attends any particular school. The Organization running the campaign reviews the students who are added and may ask us to remove or correct an entry.

4. Donations

Donations are processed by Stripe, Inc. By donating you also agree to Stripe’s terms. We never see or store your full card or bank account number.

Donations are made to the Organization, not to us. We collect the funds on its behalf and pass the proceeds to it after the campaign, less our fee. Our fee is disclosed on the donation page.

When you donate, you choose whether your name, amount, and message appear publicly on the student’s page. You can also choose to share your name and email address with the student’s family. These choices affect only what the public and the family see. The Organization receives your name and donation details as described in our Privacy Policy. It receives your email address only if you tell us your employer may match your gift, and then only to follow up with you about that match, never to ask you for donations.

Each January, we may send you a summary of your prior-year donations on the Organization’s behalf, to help with your taxes.

Donations are generally final. If you need a refund or a copy of your receipt, contact the Organization running the campaign. Refunds are at the Organization’s discretion except where the law requires otherwise or we believe a charge was fraudulent.

The Organization, not us, is responsible for the tax treatment of your donation and for any tax documentation. We may send you a receipt on the Organization’s behalf.

5. What you can see

Signed-in access is limited by who you are. You see your own children, the donations made to them, and your own donation history. The Organization’s authorized users see all students and donations in its campaign. Pages that anyone can see show campaign and classroom totals. A student’s page, reachable only by its link, shows the information described in Section 3.

6. Acceptable use

Do not:

  • Add a child who is not yours
  • Enter false, misleading, or offensive information
  • Use the Service to solicit for anything other than the campaign
  • Try to access accounts, pages, or data that are not yours
  • Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download anything from the Service
  • Probe, disrupt, or interfere with the Service or its security
  • Use the Service to break any law

We may suspend or remove an account, a student entry, or content that violates these terms, and we may report unlawful activity.

7. Removing your information

You can ask us to remove a child, your account, or your personal information at any time. Email us at the address below or make the request through the Organization. We will act within one business day.

We delete donor and student information 1 year after a campaign ends. We keep transaction records that contain no donor or student name or contact information for 4 years after a campaign ends, for tax and accounting purposes. Your account stays open until you close it. If you ask for removal sooner, we delete what we are not required to keep for tax, accounting, or payment-dispute purposes. Our Privacy Policy has the details.

8. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with. The short version: your information will never be sold, harvested, or used to solicit you for future donations, by us or by the Organization. We share your name and donation details with the Organization you donated to. Your email address stays with us, unless you ask us to share it with the Organization so it can follow up with you about an employer matching gift.

9. Your content

You keep ownership of what you enter. You give us permission to display and use it to run the campaign, and to share campaign information with the Organization as described in the Privacy Policy. You confirm you have the right to provide whatever you enter, including information about your child.

10. Availability

We work to keep the Service running, but we do not guarantee it will always be available or error-free. Campaigns have start and end dates set by the Organization, and pages go offline when a campaign ends. We may change, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is.” We disclaim all warranties not expressly stated here, including fitness for a particular purpose.

We are not responsible for the Organization’s conduct, its use of funds, its tax filings, or its communications with you. Disputes about a campaign, a refund, or a receipt are between you and the Organization.

12. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages. Our total liability to you for any claim will not exceed the greater of $100 or the fees we earned on your donations in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will notify account holders by email or through the Service before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new terms.

14. Ending your use

You may stop using the Service and ask us to close your account at any time. We may close or suspend an account that violates these terms. Sections 7, 9, 11, 12, and 15 continue to apply afterward.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Illinois law, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. We will try in good faith to resolve any dispute directly. If we cannot, the dispute may be brought in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois, and you consent to that jurisdiction.
